Uniya's
mission is to research the needs of, and give practical support
to, those who are marginalised in our society. Its research is based
on Catholic social teaching and an analysis of contemporary social
structures and issues. Uniya is committed to making available credible
research that will influence government policy and public opinion
in favour of those in most need.
Current projects
- Reconciliation between indigenous
and other Australians is a major focus of Uniya's work
- Regional relations project examines
key security and human rights challenges for the Asia Pacific
and poses questions for Australia in its relations in the region
- The mutual obligation franchise
is a joint project between Uniya and the Jesuit Social Services.
The research investigates the mutual obligation concept as it
is applied to different policy areas (including international
aid)
